Well said, I was doing a search of congressional audit on google, and you we're the first sight. I couldn't have said it better myself, I have been writing political ideas for about 2 years from researching congress via video stream and listening the Associated press, and targeted news. I felt that an audit is the only sensible thing to do. More like an assessment test. you have to evaluate what you have before you can begin building or progressing, and I know that to be universal. This is insane that we allow these "employees" stand behind a protective veil. Which brings me to one of my political ideas. Representatives must meet on a filmed broadcast basis, meaning they would only be paid for the work they do on camera, something simple like a video social network much like youtube to monitor all committees, all governing posts. I should know if you are speaking for me, which the employees are clearly not speaking for me.

I do need to confess that I enjoy reading through your weblog, even when I do not agree with you. I guess the principal thing would be to make individuals believe. One of these days I will get around to beginning a weblog. It will probably be extra for blowing off steam and less helpful than yours is although. Maintain writing and I will maintain reading through.

I agree with the assessment that the personnel who administer our government should model the pro-social behavior of paying all taxes due on time and on target. These individuals frequently declare their own faith in the power of government - indeed, by choosing that sector in which to make their living, by all rights they should be at least enthusiastic enough to pay their "fair share."

You will note that this the same standard they would hold their fellow citizens to. Wasn't a congressperson quoted recently claiming that paying your taxes was an act of patriotism?

Sebelius' actions are commendable. I would not be surprised to find a large number of taxpayers being unintentionally non-compliant with the horrendously complicated tax codes. Clearly, they need revision.

It is perhaps fitting that our elected officials should reflect upon the difficulties their tax codes have created for tax payers by undergoing the types of audits us "lesser folk" are subject to. A yearly Mandatory audit for them may drive that point home so completely that they would become willing to consider a flat tax and the abolition of personal income taxes.

Great follow-up ideas. I especially like the campaign contribution one.

My view on that is that if contibution limits cannot stick because of First Amendment reasons, or because of loopholes, then contributions should be cleared through a 3rd party and elected officials should be recused from voting when their contributors are directly affected by legislation.

Who said anything about this being voluntary?

The next time a politician wants to pass a law to restrict our freedom, we should ask the question: What freedoms are you going to give up, sir? Perhaps this can be a mantra.

I would love to see some form of political reformation done along these lines. It would change the game dramatically.

Good luck getting them to voluntarily submit. Ultimately it may only be possible to achieve this through ground up effort. Get it down locally, then at the state level, then force the feds.

how bout 1 more step.lets do a "gov't " idea. lets let some federal beauacracy collect all campaign fun ds. donor must notate with contribution where he/she/it wishes the dollars to go, therefore we know who's really doing the contributing and to who for what.. and by the way,might this be a way of who shld be recusing themselves on some votes? hey about even gov't taxxing it as income. hahahha,yeah,fat chance. and if they won't go for all that. HOW ABOUT SOME REAL LAWS STATING PUNISHMENT FOR WHEN THEY ARE CAUGHT, AND LET OUTSIDE ORG. DOLE OUT THE PUNISHMENTS INSTEAD OF THEM DOING IT THEMSELVES.
